"I would recommend Naylor's Culligan and their water systems to anyone who is in the market for water purification systems." Charlie Nace, McHenry, MD

It all started during 1936 in a blacksmith shop in Northbrook, Illinois. Emmett Culligan perforated the bottom of a coffee can and bought some greensand to make his own water softener. He ran water through this can and used this "softened" water to wash his baby's diapers. The water was 36 grains hard going in to the can and 0 grains hard coming out. Emmett Culligan had discovered his own method to give "soft water."

By, 1938, the first franchised dealership was started in Wheaton, Illinois, followed by another dealership located in Hagerstown, Maryland. By the start of World War II, Culligan had 150 dealers.

Today, Culligan has over 1,300 dealerships worldwide. The company that Mr. Culligan began with only a table, typewriter and a dream has become a leader in the water treatment industry.
